To get the most out of the device, you'll want to explore the offerings in Leap Motion's Airspace Store, where you'll find 80 or so apps that show off all of the controller's gesture and motion capability. Many of these apps are little more than technical demonstrations and toys, giving you a nifty trick you can use the Leap Motion Controller for. Leap Motion Launches World's Most Accurate 3D Motion Control

Posted By: Poketors - July 25, 2013
The Leap Motion released "Leap Motion Controller" on 22nd July, 2013, promising to change the way we interact with the personal computer.
Leap Motion Launches World's Most Accurate 3D Motion Control"With a wave of a hand or lift of a finger, you’re about to use your computer in a whole new way. The Leap Motion Controller senses how you move your hands the way you naturally move them. So you can point, wave, reach, and grab. Even pick something up and put it down. Just like in real life. It’s an amazing device for the things you do every day and for things you never thought you could do." - Leap Motion

The Leap Motion is a cheap, potentially revolutionary computer and video game peripheral that wasn't funded on Kickstarter. Essentially, it’s an inexpensive, easy-to-setup for the PC and provides wonderful 3D Motion Control Technology for Computing.

It’s a small — 0.5 inches tall, 1.2 inches wide, 3 inches deep, and weighs 0.1 pounds (1.27×3.04×7.62 centimeters) — unobtrusive device that’s similar in shape and size to one of the rectangular iPod Nanos. With a sleek black-and-silver aesthetic, it looks like a first-party Apple peripheral for the MacBook Pro — it won’t interrupt the vibe of your sweet battle station.

It plugs into your computer through a standard USB 3.0 connection, and its placement is only limited to the length of the USB cable. Setup is simple: Plug in the Leap, press “Next” a few times on the installer, make an account for the Airspace Store (the Leap’s app store).

The goal of the Leap Motion Control is to allow you to just sit back in your chair, relax, and effortlessly wave a hand or poke a finger in the air to interact with your computer. It has not yet achieved that goal, mainly because of that “effortlessly” qualifier. Using the Leap is a chore.

Here is a video which will help you in understanding the concept of Leap Motion Controller.

A Brief History Of Leap Motion :

It all started when one of its founders, David, was 3D modeling. What took 10 seconds by hand often took 30 minutes with a computer. Technology was actually getting in the way of technology. Fortunately, he’s a super-smart mathematician who figured out a remarkably accurate way of tracking natural movement down to the fingertip. So now they really can mold pixels as easily as clay.

Leap Motion
The Leap creates a three-dimensional motion and gesture recognition zone around itself that measures in at eight cubic feet. Eight cubic feet sounds like a pretty large area in which to wave your hands, and considering both you and the Leap are sitting comfortably in each other’s vicinity, you would think that eight cubic feet would allow you to sit back, relax, and control your computer with the ease. Now lets take our call, figure out the features and feel the most wonderful experience with this amazing 3D Leap Motion Controller.
