New Google Photos App : Leaked Images

Posted By: Arin Dey - May 26, 2015
Google is launching an amazing photo app very soon. While using this photos app, users will be greeted with the awesome pinwheel animation similar shape what we see in Google Photos option. Splash screens aren't traditionally used on Android because they aren't strictly necessary, but Google has been having a lot of fun with icon motion lately, which may explain its presence. Next, of course, is the first-run experience. As with most Google apps these days, Photos explains itself up front in a series of friendly, animated illustrations. The user can then fiddle with some backup settings before being ushered to a few more illustrations.

New Google Photos App : Leaked Images

Google’s senior vice president for products, Sundar Pichai, was quoted by Venture Beat as saying the company would be looking at ways to improve user experience when it comes to photographs.

“Photos are a big use case,” Pichai said. “So we are going to say this is the stream now.”

Most of the app's functionality is given away in the above screens. This app will let users search for specific people, animals, or objects, back up photos automatically, and take care of general photo management. Addition to all of these this app gets a revised interface with several "views" to choose from. Users can see their photos sorted by day or month, or a "comfortable view" which tiles photos by day in a staggered grid sort of like Google+ photo albums on the web do now.

Lets see how it appears once it is live.

Google Introduces Inbox For iPad

Posted By: Arin Dey - February 21, 2015
Google’s is introducing it's new e-mail service 'Inbox' on iPad also. It is available in the App Store, but only for U.S. region only. It is based on invite only as of now. Inbox has already made its image clear and it also became a popular email service tool on Android platforms. It better categorizes e-mails and displays important information such as flight itineraries, event information, and photos and documents from friends and family in separate categories.

Google Introduces Inbox For iPad

Inbox builds upon the categories introduced in Gmail last year. The basic concept behind it is grouping similar e-mails together. For example, if you have any product purchase bills generated and sent to your Gmail account it will be categorized in Purchase option. Once done with them, they can simply be swiped away. Users can also customize Inbox by selecting which e-mails they want to see grouped together.

If you want an Inbox account you have to send an e-mail to inbox@google.com to get an invitation to use the service.

Google Gtalk Will Be Replaced With Hangouts On February 16

Posted By: Arin Dey - February 06, 2015
As per Google, Hangout is the future for Google audio and video communication tool and that was why Google decided to discontinue Gtalk. It is the most logical thing that Google can do now replacing with Hangout. It has also decided to cut support regarding security and version for the desktop application. As posted by Google the IM service will be wholly replaced by the Hangouts app, which can used only via its Chrome web browser.

Google Gtalk Will Be Replaced With Hangouts On February 16

Gtalk will be shutting down on February 16. Gtalk will become history like Orkut. Hangout hasn't been openly liked by all users as compared to Gtalk which was widely accepted by millions of users. Hangout has been integrated with phone-tablet-PC like something Microsoft has tried with Windows 10. Anyway the transition was bound to happen since last year. Popular messaging app WhatsApp has now moved to PCs as well and that has made Gtalk all the more redundant, so with Hangout Google wants to make instant messaging which will be interactive and a visual approach.

Google Hangouts has the below main features :

Group conversations :

Send photos or emoji, see when people are engaged in the Hangout and message friends anytime, even if they're not connected right now.

Video and Voice :

Turn any Hangout into a live video call with up to 10 friends or simply search for a contact to start a voice call from your computer.

Friends can use Hangouts :

Hangouts works on computers, Android and Apple devices, so you can connect with everyone, and no one gets left out.

Lets see how Hangout replaces its predator's place in terms of popularity.

Google Translate Gets Real-Time Translation Feature

Posted By: Arin Dey - January 15, 2015
Recently Google Translate got very useful update that enables the app to offer real-time translation of spoken foreign languages and also translation of text via the user’s camera.

Google Translate Gets Real-Time Translation Feature

This modified and updated app enables users to snap a picture of foreign writing, on a sign for instance, and Google Translate will offer up the translated text overlaid on the user’s screen.

Google mentioned in its blog post that “We’re taking it to the next level and letting you instantly translate text using your camera—so it’s way easier to navigate street signs in the Italian countryside or decide what to order off a Barcelona menu. While using the Translate app, just point your camera at a sign or text and you’ll see the translated text overlaid on your screen—even if you don’t have an Internet or data connection.”

The new feature of translation is currently available for English to and from French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish. More languages are to be added over time. In its next update, Google will allow Translate to identify if a person is speaking a popular language and then automatically provides what was said in written text. Find the below video to understand how it works.

Google translate team explained how it works stating “simply tap the mic to start speaking in a selected language, then tap the mic again, and the Google Translate app will automatically recognize which of the two languages are being spoken, letting you have a more fluid conversation. For the rest of the conversation, you won’t need to tap the mic again—it’ll be ready as you need it. Asking for directions to the Rive Gauche, ordering bacalhau in Lisbon, or chatting with your grandmother in her native Spanish just got a lot faster.”

Google Launches Audio Streaming System "Cast"

Google Displays Lyrics In The SERPs

Posted By: Arin Dey - December 25, 2014
Google has updated its search engine recently. This will include song lyrics as well. Suppose you are searching by a song name with the word "lyrics" it will show the entire lyrics. As of now the service is available for U.S. English users.

Google Displays Lyrics In The SERPs

If you can’t remember the words to a song you like, you can simply plug in the song’s title to Google Search and the song in its entirety will appear right in search without having to click on any additional links.

A Google+ post by Glenn Gabe showed how it works.

“The hammer has fallen. Google now displaying lyrics in the SERPs,” he posted along with evidence of the new feature: a screenshot of Google listing the lyrics for a popular Kings of Leon song.

But there are searches for both new and classic song lyrics coming up blank. Instead it shows the links to corresponding YouTube videos and third-party lyric sites. So it is observed that Google is not scraping the songs from top lyrics websites but, rather, is trying to obtain the lyrics properly by paying licensing fees.

A Google spokesperson confirmed the release of the lyrics search feature to Tech Crunch saying that “There’s a feeling you get when you turn to a song and you know that the words have two meanings. Well it’s whispered that now if you go search the tune, maybe Google will lead you to reason. Ooh, it makes you wonder…”

Google Says Goodbye To Russia

Posted By: Arin Dey - December 23, 2014
The Russian parliament passed a bill that explains as of September 2016, foreign Internet companies can only store Russian users' data within the country's borders. As a result of a recent change, the date will be up to this coming January 1, 2015. Google will close down its engineering office, following other tech companies such as Adobe, which left the country in September.

Google Says Goodbye To Russia

Castellon says, "According to this law, Google would be a content provider that leverages the work of others. From our point of view, Google News, or any other aggregator, is a traffic-distribution mechanism that adds value to the user legitimately and ends in a loss of value on both sides of the table."

Germany attempted to block Google in a similar manner last month. Google announced in a blog post that the service will be disabled and Spanish publishers will be removed from Google News on Tuesday

We expect this to be controversial, but the simple truth is kids already have the technology in schools and at home. So the better approach is to simply see to it that the tech is used in a better way.”

The project is full-time and Google is eagerly planning it to get set go, Diwanji didn't confirm that when parents can see the new services to be introduced.

She added “We want to be thoughtful about what we do, giving parents the right tools to oversee their kids’ use of our products. We want kids to be safe, but ultimately it’s about helping them be more than just pure consumers of tech, but creators, too.”

Google May Lose Search Default In Apple's Safari

Posted By: Arin Dey - November 27, 2014
Google lost its opportunity for being the default main search engine in Mozilla’s Firefox and now it seems that Apple also excludes Google search from its web browser Safari too. According to online news, Yahoo and Microsoft’s Bing are trying their luck for Apple to become the default search engine in Apple’s Safari browser as Google’s contract expires next year.
Yahoo has already defeated Google by owning the default search title in Mozilla's Firefox. Mozilla’s browser is one of the biggest desktop browser used worldwide. Losing the deal with Apple would be another blow to Google.

Safari is widely used by people worldwide and is the largest share of the mobile market about 45 percent. Its mainly because of the iPhone and iPad users. It is also observed that few Android users prefer Safari over Google’s Chrome. It has already become a hot news that Apple may not renew its search engine deal with Google, which is its biggest competitor in the Smartphone market as of now.

Safari on iOS is already offering users to choose their own default search engine either Yahoo, Bing or DuckDuckGo instead of Google. Somehow it is difficult to find the setting to make the switch, so most users just use the current default: Google.

Lets see the future that Google is going to make regarding its search engine deals.

Google Facts - Every Marketer Should Know About [Infographic]

Posted By: Arin Dey - September 22, 2014
Google has a very polite and soft beginning in a small garage in 1998. It was founded by two graduate students Larry Page and Sergei Brin of Stanford University. Their hard work and ability to give search results gets wide appreciation and within a year, it gets its first multiplex office named Googleplex in Mount View, California. The brand Google was born in the world of web. Despite a long history and high public profile, there are still many unusual facts about Google that escape daily dialogue and can provide lessons for marketers. Now, let's see how marketers should be benefited with google. At a surface level, Google for Jobs doesn’t have a lot of immediate marketing applications.

However, like most things the tech giant does, this is something marketers should keep a close eye on. It could well have a surprising impact on your business and online brand. SEO and (probably to a lesser extent) SEM professionals should take a keen interest in how Google for Jobs impacts user behavior.

Google Introduces Offline Mode To YouTube In India

Posted By: Arin Dey - September 16, 2014
After Google launched its low-cost fully featured Android One smartphones initiative in India, it added one more announcement and that is about YouTube. YouTube users in India will be able to save videos offline and watch them anywhere, any time, without a data connection. This announcement was made at an event in Gurgaon, India.

Google Introduces Offline Mode To YouTube In India

Ceasar Sengupta, YouTube executive announced at the event in India that "YouTube is popular here. You watch some videos again and again. How awesome would it be if you could keep watching them again and again without having to pay for data, and take the videos with you wherever you go?" said "Within the coming few weeks, much of YouTube will be available offline in India. This is huge, and our users will really, really like this. You can download a video once, save it to your phone, and watch it again and again."

It is not clear at the moment whether this new offline option is restricted to YouTube in India, or if this will be an Android only feature, but in either case, it is a big step forward for consumers here. Users will be able to save almost any video on the streaming service to their phones, tablets or computers. One interesting consideration here is to see how YouTube will be able to monetise these videos which are stored offline. Google did not mention as to when offline availability will launch in the country, nor has it stated whether the service will be available in other countries.

Hopefully it will introduce this service to other regions also. Lets wait for its official release for this offline "YouTube" mode.

Google Removes Authorship From Search Results

Posted By: Arin Dey - September 01, 2014
Google's webmaster trends analyst John Mueller expressed the "difficult decision" in a Google+ post. This post reveals that Google will stop showing authorship in search results. Google's authorship support page shows "Authorship markup is no longer supported in Web search," and encourages bloggers and webmasters to look into rich snippets to improve their search results.

Google Removes Authorship From Search Results

According to John Mueller, while checking removing authorship as a test; it did not generally appear to reduce site traffic or increase ad clicks.

Mueller adds "We've gotten lots of useful feedback from all kinds of webmasters and users, and we've tweaked, updated, and honed recognition and displaying of authorship information. Unfortunately, we've also observed that this information isn't as useful to our users as we'd hoped, and can even distract from those results."

He also cheered up for webmasters for their efforts to improve their websites. He says Google Search users will continue to see Google+ posts from friends and the pages that are relevant within the main results and on the right-hand side. As per him, "authorship change doesn't impact these social features."

Lets see the effects of the authorship removal from Google SERPs.

How To Open Google Cached Pages

Posted By: Arin Dey - August 25, 2014
The giant search engine Google has an very useful feature and i.e. Google Cache. In case a website is down or its time consuming to reach that website then you can quickly retrieve the cached copy of that page from Google servers.

How To Open Google Cached Pages

Another great feature it offers is that Google Cache works in a similar fashion like a proxy server by allowing you to view pages that may be inaccessible from your current location. The “Cached” link provides an option by showing Instant Previews on the right hand side or a drop down selection option just as shown in the above screenshot. Cached links can be seen if you hover the mouse over a search result or select the down arrow button beside the link.

Sometimes it is very much required to access a cached version of a web page. In that case you can go to google.com and type cache: in the search box. If Google sees that special “cache” string in the search box, it automatically transfers you to the cached copy of that particular page.
Google Cached Copy Of Web Page

Nowadays people are more keen in using Google Chrome. If you are a Chrome user then just type “cache:” before the URL in Chrome’s address bar and it goes straight to the cached version of that web page.

SEO Mistakes According To Google’s Matt Cutts

Posted By: Arin Dey - August 24, 2014
Google’s head of search spam Matt Cutts listed very common SEO mistakes webmasters make while taking care of SEO aspects. Google's Matt Cutts said these are not the most devastating mistakes, but rather, the most common mistakes.

SEO Mistakes According To Google’s Matt Cutts

Below are the common mistakes :
  • Having a website that is not crawlable is the biggest mistake he sees.
  • Not including the right words on the page. The example Matt gave is: don’t just write, “Mt. Everest Height” but write, “How high is Mt. Everest?” because that is how people search.
  • Don’t think about link building, think about compelling content and marketing.
  • Don’t forget to think about the title and description of your most important pages.
  • Not using webmaster resources and learning about how Google works and what SEO is about.
Here’s his video where he mentioned about the 3-5 mistakes done by webmasters in SEO areas.
