The device will be available both online and in stores, This device will be used by touch that gives you the sensation of your virtual hands being your own physical hands.
Facebook's blog post stated that “Touch lets you bring your hands into VR for the most immersive experience possible. You can gesture intuitively and manipulate digital objects with precision — making your VR experiences more seamless and comfortable for a deeper sense of presence.”
Each controller has a traditional analog thumbstick, two buttons, an analog trigger and an input mechanism called the ‘hand trigger.’ Precise tracking combined with an ergonomic handle design bring hand poses and social gestures into your virtual world. A diagonal grip lets your thumb and index finger move autonomously, helping to eliminate accidental triggers.
Touch will be priced at $199 in the U.S. or for $798 when paired with the Oculus Rift, the virtual reality headset needed for Touch to work. In Canada, the price rises to $279 or $1,128 for both the Rift and Touch.
Oculus is offering a chance to try Touch out, as well. Demonstrations are available at more than 500 retailers in the U.S., Canada, France, Germany, and the U.K. Participating stores can be found here. You can schedule an appointment for a demo via the link.
