iOS 11 Features For iPhone, iPad, iPod [Infographic]

If you and your family members own multiple Apple devices, and use them to share media such as photos and videos, it makes no sense for each member to have their own iCloud storage plan. Thankfully, iOS 11 makes it possible to have shared iCloud storage plans. Up to six members of a family can share a common iCloud storage plan between them. This can be done without having to incur any extra costs on a monthly basis. Along with this feature, a lot of other features are there. Please check the infographic for more detailed information.

Windows or Mac computers come with screen capture apps that are not available for your iOS device but actually there is no need to install any such apps on your iPhones because the screen capture functionality is built right into your device.

How To Take A Screenshot On iOS Device
To save a screenshot image of your mobile screen you can follow these steps:

1. Press and hold the Home button which is located at the bottom center of your device (the button you often use to exit the app and return to the home screen).

2. While the home button is held down, press the Sleep (or Wake) button that is located on the opposite edge of your phone. The screen will flash for a moment, you will also hear a click sound and the content of the current screen on your iOS device will be saved as a new image in the Photo Gallery.

Apple Faces Lawsuit Over Storage Space

Posted By: Arin Dey - January 04, 2015
Recently it was seen that Apple is being sued by a pair of Florida men claiming the company has misled users about the storage capacity of its devices. They stated that more than 23 percent of storage space on Apple’s devices will be consumed by Apple’s iOS 8 alone. The complaint alleges that Apple failed to inform its users that installing iOS 8 would take up as much as 23.1 percent of the phone’s storage capacity.

Apple Faces Lawsuit Over Storage Space

“The defendant fails to disclose to consumers that as much as 23.1% of the advertised storage capacity of the devices will be consumed by iOS 8 and unavailable for consumers when consumers purchase devices that have iOS 8 installed,” wrote Jonas P Mann of US law firm Audet & Partners in a complaint filed in the northern district of California.

“Reasonable consumers, such as Plaintiff, do not expect this marked discrepancy between the advertised level of capacity and the available capacity of the Devices, as the operating system and other storage space unavailable to consumers occupies an extraordinary percentage of their Devices’ limited storage capacity.”

Paul Orshan and Christopher Endara, the two Florida men who have launched the suit, are seeking millions of dollars on behalf of a nation-wide class of Apple users, reported Business Standard.

Apple faced similar issue around eight years ago as per CBS News reports. Apple won a battle over the amount of storage space on iPods. The issue was with the 8GB iPod Nano featured 7.45 GB of space, a difference of only 7.5 percent.

Google May Lose Search Default In Apple's Safari

Posted By: Arin Dey - November 27, 2014
Google lost its opportunity for being the default main search engine in Mozilla’s Firefox and now it seems that Apple also excludes Google search from its web browser Safari too. According to online news, Yahoo and Microsoft’s Bing are trying their luck for Apple to become the default search engine in Apple’s Safari browser as Google’s contract expires next year.
Yahoo has already defeated Google by owning the default search title in Mozilla's Firefox. Mozilla’s browser is one of the biggest desktop browser used worldwide. Losing the deal with Apple would be another blow to Google.

Safari is widely used by people worldwide and is the largest share of the mobile market about 45 percent. Its mainly because of the iPhone and iPad users. It is also observed that few Android users prefer Safari over Google’s Chrome. It has already become a hot news that Apple may not renew its search engine deal with Google, which is its biggest competitor in the Smartphone market as of now.

Safari on iOS is already offering users to choose their own default search engine either Yahoo, Bing or DuckDuckGo instead of Google. Somehow it is difficult to find the setting to make the switch, so most users just use the current default: Google.

Lets see the future that Google is going to make regarding its search engine deals.

Larger iPhones are on the way, according to a new report. Bloomberg reported that Apple has plans to kick-start production in China within the next few months on two new iPhones that will feature larger screens.

It will have a screen that is 4.7 inches by 5.5 inches and the device will be rounder and thinner than the iPhone 5S, sources told Bloomberg. Few sources over internet revealed that Apple is buying Beats Electronics for $3 billion. This acquisition will give the iTunes introducer a boost in the music revolutionized world. In this deal, Apple will acquire the Beats Music and associated businesses. Beats co-founders Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre are known to have their fingers on the pulse of all that is current and popular in the music industry.

Apple Buys Beats Electronics For $3B

It will be definitely a valuable asset to Apple as it looks to emphasize on its iRadio service into high as the popularity of streaming services grow day by day.

Apple CEO Tim Cook told USA Today that the company is “gaining rare talent, a fast-growing subscription service and premium headphones that have done incredibly well, but none of those are the reason for doing this deal. It’s the future we’re betting on.”

Music streaming has become more popular. And from quite sometime iTunes has been the market leader but it has slowed down the progress slightly. Apple wants to be the top music provider inspite of different method of choice. Music has been the choice with high priority for most the people and that's where Iovine and Dre come in.

Cook also added that “We’ve found kindred spirits in Jimmy and Dre, and we’re going to advance what they’ve done to a whole different level."

Beats brand will remain same as it is now. Iovine has worked with the iPhone maker on projects for more than a decade. This deal is a good one for both parties.

Iovine also told USA today that “You feel like when you walk in here, these guys get what we do. Will our products get better? Absolutely; we want our stuff to be made by Apple. But mostly, it’s about feeling that these guys can bridge the gap between the tech and music worlds.”

Apple Filed Transparent Texting Patent

Posted By: Arin Dey - April 01, 2014
Apple filed the patent on Thursday last week with the US Patent and Trademark Office. It basically enables smartphone’s rear camera to record what’s going on in front of the phone by displaying the video live on the camera’s screen. The text interface will appear on the display at the same time as an overlay with some degree of transparency so that the user can see what is happening in front of them while texting.

Apple Filed Transparent Texting Patent
It says that “An electronic communication device’s camera can continuously capture and present video images as a background within a text messaging session currently being displayed by the device. The camera can be a rear-facing camera on the device, so that the video images represent the views that the device’s user would see if the device’s display were transparent. The camera can continuously capture and present the video images as the background in the text messaging session, so that the device’s user continuously can be aware of the environment beyond the device’s display while still focusing on the text messages being communicated.”

The patent is named as ‘transparent texting.’ Apple seems to take utmost care for the ability of this feature to reduce risk of injury for users.

The patent also states that “(It) is common, even if not entirely safe, for a mobile device user to engage in a text messaging session while he is concurrently walking. Due to the visual nature of a text messaging session, such a user often will find it difficult to divide his attention between his device’s display and his environmental surroundings. A user who is walking while participating in a text messaging session may inadvertently collide with or stumble over objects in his path because his attention was focused on his device’s display instead of the path that he was traversing. Even if a user remains stationary while participating in a text messaging session, that user may expose himself to some amount of danger or potential embarrassment if he is so engaged in his device’s display that he becomes oblivious to changes in his surrounding environment.”

Lets see how Apple brings the concept into the market and at the same time how safe it is for users.

Apple Builds Its Own CDN

Posted By: Arin Dey - February 06, 2014
After creating a history with their products, now it seems that Apple is moving towards networking also. They are building network of Internet infrastructure that will be capable of delivering large amounts of content to customers.

Apple Builds Its Own CDN
Apple is going to create its own content delivery network (CDN) to assist with the abundance of media streaming through its system. The plan would mean customers of iTunes and iCloud could see improved service, a Wall Street Journal report said.

Akamai and Level 3 manage Apple's CDN now. The majority of its distribution though its own data centers provide a base for distributing content and data storage.

If Apple maintains its own CDN then they will definitely see customers experience, improved squality and the reliability of services offered by the company. As a result, the apps, movies, music or documents would be downloaded at a higher speed. Another advantage is that if they remove third parties from the service then you can expect delays, less money spent and improvement in communications very quickly. It might be little bit late entry for Apple in the same space where other major players including Google, Netflix and Facebook are already offering the service. Either from customer's point of view or even Apple's. both will be benefited by this move.

Apple will have more control of how its content is delivered regardless of the fact that wherever their customer is located as they are going to maintain their own CDN.
