Forbes published the the news and was termed “surprising,” that may be a bit of a stretch. It seems that the fact behind this "surprise" was not deciding to introduce such a product but that it has taken this long for the news to leak the news to market. According to the post, the smartwatch will use Microsoft’s Xbox Kinect division’s expertise to measure heart rate with a battery that will last for 48 hours.

Microsoft has been considering to grasp the newer technology trends by introducing newer products. Its also been reported that this smartwatch will be able to sync with other smart devices from various rival brands available in market. We know the fact that consumers are looking at other companies before turning to Microsoft for these kind of wearable products. It will be a tough job for Microsoft to make some of those customer motivated in buying its products.

As of now it can be predicted that the highly expected things from Microsoft's wearable devices will be price, functionality and features. Though it may surprise us with much more unexpected things also once it launches in the market.

Google Unveils Smart Contact Lens To Check Glucose Levels

Posted By: Poketors - January 17, 2014
Another wearable and fashionable device is being introduced by Google once again. Now it seems Google will keep releasing new products in wearable technology space. Its not Glass, it may just be Google’s first step in this direction for wearable . The search engine giant's Google X lab provided a teaser; a smart contact lens on its blog that is meant to help understand the glucose levels ensuring diabetics measure.

Google says it is currently testing prototypes of this contact lens that use a tiny wireless chip and a miniaturized glucose sensor. These chips are embedded in between two soft layers of lens material. Scientists who have developed the device looked into how certain body fluids can help them track glucose levels.  Human tears work very well in measuring this, but using tears was never really an option Even you can imagine, tears are hard to collect. So this alternative lens would do that very easily.

Google also revealed that, the sensor can take about one reading per second, and it is working on adding tiny LED lights to the lens to warn users when their glucose levels cross certain limit. This tiny sensor is so small that they look like bits of glitter as explained by Google.
Google says it is working with the FDA to turn these prototypes into real products and that it is working with experts to bring this technology to market. Google says “We’re in discussions with the FDA, but there’s still a lot more work to do to turn this technology into a system that people can use. We’re not going to do this alone: we plan to look for partners who are experts in bringing products like this to market. These partners will use our technology for a smart contact lens and develop apps that would make the measurements available to the wearer and their doctor."
