Posted By: Arin Dey - June 08, 2015
Do you want to turn your mobile phone screen into an image? Now it's easy to save a screenshot image of your iPhone, iPad or the iPod Touch screen and preserve it forever. Windows or Mac computers come with screen capture apps that are not available for your iOS device but actually there is no need to install any such apps on your iPhones because the screen capture functionality is built right into your device.

How To Take A Screenshot On iOS Device
To save a screenshot image of your mobile screen you can follow these steps:

1. Press and hold the Home button which is located at the bottom center of your device (the button you often use to exit the app and return to the home screen).

2. While the home button is held down, press the Sleep (or Wake) button that is located on the opposite edge of your phone. The screen will flash for a moment, you will also hear a click sound and the content of the current screen on your iOS device will be saved as a new image in the Photo Gallery.

You can also use the same key combination to reset your iPhone by pressing and holding the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button simultaneously for at least 10 seconds.

Posted By: Arin Dey - April 08, 2015
Have you ever been in a situation when you are on a call and you get distracted by another call coming in. It can be annoying if a person keeps calling you repeatedly while you are in the middle of a call. Instead of enabling Do Not Disturb mode you can do something more reactive. Here's how to let a caller know that you are busy or on another call.

How To Respond To Incoming Calls With Text Messages In iOS

How to set up call messages :

iOS 8 comes with a few default messages such as "Sorry, I can't talk right now," "I'm on my way," and "Can I call you later?" If you want to customize these messages you can follow these steps:

1. Open “Settings”, select “Phone” and then “Respond with Text.”

2. Type in your own messages into the “Respond With” fields (Figure 1)

Note: You will be able able to type upto three messages in this area and choose any one among them while you are on a call.

 Figure 1
How to reply with messages to callers :

Whenever you receive a call you will find two buttons above the “slide to answer” control – “Remind Me” and “Message.” (Figure 2)

Tapping on the “Message” button will reveal all the default messages or the messages you have typed into the “Settings.” You can select one of these messages or type something more and send a full iMessage to the caller by tapping the “Custom” button.

How to get reminders to call back :

When you get a call and instead of sending any text messages if you would like to get a reminder to call the person back after a set period of time then you can simply tap the “Reminder” button (Figure 3) and then select a time or location in order to receive a notification to call the person back according to the time or location you have already set.

Microsoft Introduces Cortana On Android And iOS

Posted By: Arin Dey - March 15, 2015
Microsoft is introducing Cortana app on Android and iOS. But before that it will be launched over Windows 10 with the digital assistant on desktop PCs. The software giant is still working on an advanced version of Cortana, and is using research from an artificial intelligence project called ‘Einstein’ to make the virtual assistant more effective and useful than Apple’s Siri. This advanced version will be used for the standalone Android and iOS apps.

Microsoft Introduces Cortana On Android And iOSMicrosoft has been promoting Cortana as a superior choice over offerings from Apple and Google. Microsoft operating systems group corporate vice-president Joe Belfiore has described Cortana as “the only digital assistant that gets to know you.”
He added that it “gets better over time by asking questions based on your behavior and checking in with you before she assumes you’re interested in something. She detects and monitors the stuff you care about, looks out for you throughout the day, and helps filter out the noise so you can focus on what matters to you."
Its very easy to use. Users can either speak or type to ask Cortana a question and ‘she’ will respond in turn.

How it works :

When a user interacts with Cortana for the first time, 'she' will learn the user’s name, how to pronounce it, and ask for some personal interests. The digital assistant uses the person’s answers to curate content that would be of interest such as train or bus timings for someone planning a trip, weather updates, the latest news, and even traffic information on routes and various important informations.

The digital assistant can also issue ‘people reminders’ such as a user can be reminded for an appointment with doctor. She can also help a user to make a video call in Skype, check the Facebook news feed and even sending tweets also. Lets see how it manages to win users hearts once it is available in the market.

Posted By: Arin Dey - August 23, 2014
Vine has now provides iOS users and option with the ability to create videos their way. This twitter-owned app is likely to make a big change in imaging and editing options though a lot of apps are already present in the market. It will allow users to create their own six-second clips from pre-existing videos for the first time.

Vine Introduces Camera and Editing Tools For iOS

Vine said in a blog post. “The new camera offers powerful ways to edit your videos as well as the ability to import existing videos on your phone and turn them into Vines. Simply put, this release gives you total creative freedom –– and it’s all within the app. In addition to your phone’s front- and rear-facing cameras, you now have another source for your Vines: you can import existing videos from your phone.”

iOS users can see a new option in the bottom left corner of the capture screen that can import a video. Users can make a single video or mix various clips together. Even slow motion videos are now supported as well. If you want to edit the videos then it will be an easier task now. You have to tap the scissors icon from the preview screen to edit a video. Additional tools include duplicate button, the mute button and the preview and undo button.

In case you want to access more tools, tap the wrench from the capture screen. It brings up a “second layer” of camera tools: “a grid, plus a new level; the focus lock, which now works with the front-facing camera in addition to the rear-facing camera; ghost mode, which shows you the last frame of your previous shot (and is super helpful for lining up shots!); and a new torch feature, so you can now shoot in low-light settings.”

Vine for iOS is available for download.  The app will be released on Android in near future.

Microsoft’s Bing has managed to beat competitor Google in making a place inside Apple's iOS. Apple announced during its annual Worldwide Developers Conference this week that Bing would be the new default Web search provider in iOS.

Apple Announces Bing As Default Web Search Provider In iOS

Some sources revealed that Apple has also incorporated Bing into Yosemite, its new Mac OS X release and has opted for Bing.

Microsoft's Bing said in a blog post that “As the world of devices constantly changes and new form factors come into play there will be a need to better use information, either by seeking it out or having it pushed to you, and take action/ Bing has shifted its focus to be in position to be the search for this new, changing world. You should expect relevant information to come to you when and where you need it. You should expect experiences to adapt to you and your context, instead of the other way around. You should expect proactive experiences that anticipate what you need. You should expect information to be actionable for what you need at home or work. Only Bing and Microsoft can provide all of this, and we couldn’t be more excited for the next five years and beyond.”

Sex With Glass App Lets You Share Intimate Acts

Posted By: Arin Dey - January 24, 2014
“Sex with Google Glass", a controversial app will be available very soon. It will allow users to use their device as a mirror to view intimacy from their partner’s point of view from both sides. It lets two people share their video feeds so they can see their intimate acts. The app is designed to run on Google Glass. The Sex with Google Glass project is positioning itself as a sex-enhancement app.
How It Works?

The app records a couple’s view sessions and then makes a video where both partners viewpoints can be seen. The recorded video will be available for five hours. App developer Sherif Maktabi explains that until and unless users save the video the app will remove it once the 5 hours time limit is over.

How to start?

Starting the process is simple. Users just have to say “OK, Glass, it’s time.” Once finished, the couple can instruct it by saying “OK, Glass, pull out.” and the app will stop recording immediately.

The app provides some mood-elevating music or even suggestions for sex positions, which help users to enjoy during the process.

How to get the app?

It is not yet downloadable. Developer Sherif Maktabi is working on the app to make it available on Google Glass as well as for iOS and Android. The app’s developer says the app was originally designed for Google Glass. But as per the market demand, his team decided to release it first for iOS to get the app on the market as Google Glass is not widely used till date like the Apple iPhone. Check out the app and experience about it here : http://www.glassandsex.com/

Google's reaction on the app?

Google may not be interested in the app at all as Google has its strict policy against pornography apps. It depends on the policy set by Google whether to block porn apps from Glass or not.

But Maktabi told CNET that his app isn’t about porn. He added, “If you read between the lines, we are not a sex app. We are something that changes the way you experience something personal. Our app is designed to be beautiful, minimalist, and simple. There is nothing sexual about that.”

Lets see how it works with iPhone and android devices.  Launching it as an official Glass app will be more lengthy process but implementing on Google Glass would be much interesting.

iPhone 5C Replaces iPhone 5, While iPhone 4S Remains

Posted By: Poketors - August 19, 2013
KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo addressed to investors on Monday regarding iPhone market forecast that the long-rumored device from Apple, "iPhone 5C" could replace the iPhone 5 while Apple will continue sales for iPhone 4 series. Apple's iPhone 5C might not be a "low end" product after all as rumors are concerned. The logic behind that line of thinking was that Apple wanted its entire iPhone lineup to feature larger than 4-inch display screen with faster connector by removing the legacy 30-pin connector from the Apple's product lineup.

iPhone 5C Replaces iPhone 5, While iPhone 4S Remains
Image from Sonny Dickson
The "iPhone 5C" is expected to include largely the same components as Apple's currently available iPhone 5, including an A6 processor and a 4-inch Retina display. Apple is expected to cut costs and boost margins by featuring a plastic back for the device, which is likely to reduce the present rate, but can't expect very cheap price. It will be having fingerprint sensor beneath the home button as well as a dual LED flash component for better low-light photos. Apple has not confirmed anything yest regarding this and we have to wait until the event organized by Apple on 10th September regarding unveiling its new iPhone.

5 reasons - Android 4.0 Is Better Than iOS

Posted By: Poketors - July 28, 2012
Apple is supposed to be one of the leaders at the market of mobile operation systems, especially after the release of its new iOS 6. The company has brought several very decent improvements to the OS; however, there are some fields in which Apple lags behind Ice Cream Sandwich, an operation system developed by Google.

In case you don’t keep up with latest news regarding Android, Ice Cream Sandwich might be a new word for you. So let me explain about it. Since April 2009, each Android version has been developed under a codename based on a dessert or sweet treat. Ice Cream Sandwich is the codename for Android 4.0, one of the latest versions of the Android platform.

5 reasons - Android 4.0 Is Better Than iOS

So, let’s have a look at the features that make ICS the best mobile operation system for now.

Multitasking

Ice Cream Sandwich offers a much better and more advanced multitasking option for users than iOS. The ‘Recent Apps’ function on Android devices with a 4.0 support makes it easy to multitask. All you need is to press the button and the mobile apps that you have recently used will be listed for you and you will be able to choose if to close or reopen them.

iOS multitasking function is more time consuming. You will have to click twice at the Home button and it will show you the recently used apps. And only besides after this you will have to swipe in search of the application that you would like to use and then tap the app you chose to go to it.

Hardware Options

This is one of the most important differences between iOS and Android OS. There are great variety of devices with different hardware sets that can run Android ICS, while iOS can be run ONLY by iPhones and iPads. And this limitation leads to the situation when mobile developers prefer to work with Android OS rather than with iOS just because Google and hardware manufacturers provide the choice for the developers with what devices to work.

Notifications

Apple has a very irritating way of showing a notification – a flip-down banner that looks like an ad somewhere in the Net.

Android notifications consist of a pull-down tray giving you the option to clear notifications that are unwanted and to save the important ones to review later. Besides, you don’t have to unlock your Android gadget to pull down the notifications.

Home Screen and Resizable Widgets

Ice Cream Sandwich offers a very customizable home screen to Android users. You will be able to group your applications on the home screen in a way you want. Besides, it allows you to embed live app content just through the interactive widgets installed. It mean that you may check your e-mails and updates, stream music, etc. without launching an application. It also saves the battery life that makes the users even more delighted with such function. Most of the widgets are resizable, so you can adjust the size so that to make the use of your Android phone convenient.

iOS provides only a very static home screen where you can see only some basic modification. Some people say it is a trade screen of Apple, but I think that it better only for company, not for users.

Face Unlock

Face Unlock is one of the most interesting and advanced feature in Android ICS that Apple’s iOS doesn’t have. It uses a facial recognition technology allowing nobody but you to lock or unlock the phone or tablet. This function makes your gadget save and secured.

Just don’t think that iOS is a complete failure, no. It is one of the best OS today, but still it is not perfect. And I hope that in future Apple developers will understand that variety and flexibility isn’t as bad as they think it is today.

Developer Will Prefer Android Over iOS

Posted By: Poketors - January 24, 2012
Google's Android Operating System will be holding the place as the most important platform for developers within the next 12 months leaving iOS behind. This can be predicted by the recent survey conducted by London based Ovum. Till date almost all developers support both as their important platform.

Developer Will Prefer Android Over iOS

At the second annual developer survey, the independent technology analyst reveals that while iOS and Android form the core of developer support, there also exists growing interest from developers in BlackBerry OS and Microsoft Windows Phone as other platforms for development.

Developers have been quick to respond to the exit of once-important smartphone platforms such as Windows Mobile, Symbian and WebOS, and have embraced opportunities that have arisen through emerging platforms.

The research also shows a move away from traditional cross-platform mobile application development approaches (e.g. Java, Flash, WAP). Instead, developers are focusing their efforts on web-based standards (e.g. HTML5), which seem to be the preferred approach to building cross-platform applications.

Yet, despite the increasing use of cross-platform programming approaches, most developers are still using vendor-specific distribution channels (e.g. Android Market) to deploy applications, as this is seen as the best way to reach the largest possible audience for their applications.

Adam Leach is the devices & platforms practice leader at Ovum and author of the research. He shared his views as mentioned below :
“The growing momentum behind Windows Phone indicates that Microsoft has managed to convince developers that its platform is worthy of investment; its challenge now is to persuade consumers. A smartphone platform’s success is dictated not only by the pull of consumers and the push of handset vendors and mobile operators but also by a healthy economy of applications delivered by third-party developers. Therefore, it is important for all players in the smartphone ecosystem to understand the choices developers are making today and the downstream impact of those choices”.
